*** NOTE: You can STILL register for this race IN PERSON at 8-9:30 AM prior to the race on Sunday, June 12. We can accept cash or credit card payments. When you arrive at 90 Lincoln St, Newton Highlands, you will see our tables and volunteers ready to get you signed up. We hope to have race t-shirts still available for purchase.

We are thrilled to be back after a two-year hiatus! After all of this time staying inside, limited social events and quarantines, we are finally able to come together to celebrate!

We will once again have a bib/chip timing system and guarantee t-shirts to all runners registered by Monday, May 31. After that date, t-shirts will be distributed first registered, first served on a size available basis.
About the Village Day 5K
The Newton Highlands Village Day 5K race is the start to our fun- and music-filled Village Day taking place in the Highlands from 11am - 4pm. We are running it as a fun, community event where families and neighbors can run together. So tell your family members, friends and neighbors to come out and run the Village Day 5K! It's an easy course for 5K novices too!

After the race, we encourage you, your children, friends & neighbors to wander the Highlands. Check out our merchants and vendors, listen to the bands, enjoy the free bounce houses and other inflatables, face painting, magicians and other entertainment and take in some delicious food and drink.
T-Shirts
All runners registered by Tuesday, May 31 are guaranteed a race t-shirt in their preferred size.

We order 250 t-shirts in total. T-shirts for those registering after May 31 will be distributed in order of registration and based on size availability so please sign up in advance to avoid disappointment on the day of the race. After May 31, we can not guarantee that we will have your size available.
About the Course
The race is a local, open course starting on Lincoln St. and continuing on Woodward Street. You will then run on some side streets before running on Beacon St. You will turn right onto Walnut St. and then right again on Lincoln to conclude the race. Per the Newton Police, we will have cones delineating a running lane on both Beacon & Walnut Streets this year.

Please note:
-- Streets are not blocked off for the event.
-- There will be one water stop at Cold Spring Park on Beacon St.
Runner Safety
Your safety is our top priority. We will have many signs on main streets letting drivers know that a road race is going on. However, we need your help in keeping you safe.

Runners will be running on the side of the street, in the cone lane on Beacon & Walnut Streets and on the sidewalks. Please use your best judgment on where is a safe place to run for you — and your children if they are running with you.

We will have race monitors and auxiliary police on the course. Please alert any of them if you need assistance.

You will need to cross Beacon Street twice. Auxiliary police will be there to cross runners at both crossings. Please work with them to cross safely.

The race finishes in the Highlands downtown where vendors will be actively finishing their set-up for Village Day. Just run down Lincoln to where you started and you will see the finish area there.
Timing & Awards
The race will be timed and times will be posted online after the event.

There will be awards for the top three finishers for both males and females in the following categories: adult, high school, middle school and elementary school. Awards will be handed out immediately following the last finisher, at approximately 11am.
Registration and Number Pick-up
Online registration is the preferred mode of registration so register today. We will also have in person registration from 8:00 - 9:30 am on Sunday, June 12. We can not guarantee a spot for anyone arriving after 9:30 am.

Based on our shirt delivery timeframe, we may have shirt pick-up and additional registration on Saturday morning. We will determine whether this is feasible closer to the event.
Parking
If you are driving to the race, we encourage you to park on the local side streets around the Highlands. Parking is available on Bowdoin, Chester, Columbus, Hillside, Forest, Mountfort, Erie, and Hartford Streets. Please pay attention to street signs because parking may only be allowed on one side of the street in many cases.

The course is conveniently accessible to the T Newton Highlands stop. Just exit toward Walnut Street and walk two blocks down Lincoln St. to check in.

I (for myself, and for my child, if participating) assume all risks associated with participating in this event, including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including rain, high heat and humidity, and traffic and road conditions, such being known and appreciated by me. Having read and understood this Release and Waiver and in consideration of you allowing me (and/or my child) to participate in the Newton Highlands Village Day 5K, I for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, hereby waive and release RaceWire, the Newton Highlands Village Day 5K, the Newton Highlands Community Development Corporation and the City of Newton, MA, and all sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. This release includes all injuries and/or damages suffered by me before, during or after the event. I recognize, intend and understand that this release is binding on my heirs, executors, administrators, or assignees. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use photographs, video recording, or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose, including, but not limited to, race result publication and/or publicity opportunities. All fees are nonrefundable. SecureFee™ Registration Cancellation Insurance is offered in most states. If purchased, your registration may be covered for one of the covered reasons stated in the policy.
